Support the USS WISCONSIN and Her Brave Crews
We would like to sincerely thank all of our supporters that are making the goals of the Association a reality.
The USS Wisconsin SSBN 827 Association dedicated itself to raise funds to cover the customary costs of Commissioning activities leading up to and including Commissioning Week, and support programs for the crew and families. The funds raised will ensure various Commissioning events, community outreach and host functions are well organized and properly executed to celebrate the Commissioning of our state’s namesake ship.
Additionally, our fundraising goals include endowment of scholarships for the USS WISCONSIN crews and their families via the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation, as well as funding for various support programs through the Navy's Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs and Family Service Center Programs.
We have a budget and fundraising target of more than $600,000 that will be required to support our objectives for support to USS WISCONSIN SSBN 827 through her Commissioning. We're being creative and preparing a broad campaign throughout Wisconsin.
Plank Owners and Sustaining Plank Owners
A Plank Owner is a member of the original commissioning crew of a ship or a newly commissioned unit. The term comes from the tradition of commissioning crew members taking a plank from the ship's deck as a keepsake.
In honor of this long standing Navy tradition, we recognize our earliest supporters who donate at least $827 as Plank Owners of the USS Wisconsin SSBN 827 Association. Those who continue to make annual donations are our Sustaining Plank Owners. The Plank Owner designation will be available only until the ship’s Christening Date. After that no other donors will receive the designation. However, we will always recognize the generous support of our earliest donors indicated below with a “P” for Plank Owner or “P*” for Sustaining Plank Owner after their names.

Eternal Plankowner
Anita Margaret (Knops) Harvey
2 August 1940 to 6 March 2024
The USS Wisconsin Third Crew bestows the title “Eternal Plankowner” in memory of Anita Harvey.
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Anita was a loving wife, mother, and friend. While never stationed on a submarine, she supported her husband and the Sailors assigned to subs for over 40 years.
She initiated many projects to raise the morale of submariners and their families. Alongside her life partner, Captain Jim Harvey, U.S. Navy, Retired, she was strong voice from northern Wisconsin supporting a letter writing campaign that led to the bipartisan request to the Secretary of the U.S. Navy to name a submarine Wisconsin. Achieving the goal of naming the future USS WISCONSIN (SSBN 827), Anita provided the encouragement that fueled the forming of the USS Wisconsin SSBN 827 Association. Her life lived in support of her husband, family and countless Sailors and their families will have a lasting positive impact.
