Mission and Vision

To help support the exceptional men and women who will one day operate and maintain the nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, USS WISCONSIN, a group of Navy Veterans and Wisconsinites formed a tax exempt, not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of Wisconsin.  Officially, we are the USS Wisconsin SSBN 827 Association, Inc.

 As we build awareness and spread the good news about USS Wisconsin, our Association will harness the synergy of key partners forming a strategic triad of active financial supporters, Wisconsinites, and USS Wisconsin crew members.  Among our objectives is long term support of the boat and her crews from now through her ultimate Decommissioning in 2072.

Our Vision

To serve as a nationally recognized example of how citizens, veterans, and Sailors come together to celebrate the naval heritage of the State of Wisconsin and the United States of America, strengthen community connections, and honor and champion the Sailors of the Silent Service who defend our freedoms, while inspiring future generations to understand, support and carry forward this proud tradition of service.

Our Mission

To build and maintain a proud, active and enduring relationship between WISCONSIN (SSBN 827) Blue and Gold crews, their families and the citizens of Wisconsin throughout her service life.

We achieve this mission through efforts that:

  • Promote and support WISCONSIN (SSBN 827) and her crews from construction through decommissioning;

  • Educate the public about the submarine and her mission, and share with the crews the beauty and traditions of Wisconsin;

  • Preserve and celebrate Wisconsin’s naval and maritime heritage;

  • Enhance the well-being and quality of life of the Blue and Gold crews and their families;

  • Advance education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and skilled-trades;

  • Secure and responsibly steward resources to support program and initiatives aligned with these purposes.
