Interest in WISCONSIN (SSBN 827) reaches well beyond Wisconsin. With battleship USS WISCONSIN (BB 64) as the backdrop, the Nauticus Museum in Norfolk, Virginia hosted a Keel Laying Watch Party. Attendees were treated to views of the last USS WISCONSIN (BB 64), while they watched the ceremonial start of the next USS WISCONSIN (SSBN 827) via livestream.

The official Keel Laying Ceremony, hosted by General Dynamics Electric Boat and WISCONSIN (SSBN 827) Ship’s Sponsor, Dr. Kelly Geurts, was held at 9 AM CDT on 27 August 2025 in Quonset Point, Rhode Island. The ceremony concluded as Dr. Kelly Geurts proclaimed WISCONSIN's keel to be “truly and fairly laid.”
